2021 in Review

 It’s been a hot minute since I’ve actually come and written here on my blog, over a year to be exact and not has a lot changed.


2020 in Review

1. What did you do in 2021 that you’d never done before?
I got a huge promotion and work and had a baby!!! 

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Yes and no, I ate healthier and drank more water (hello pregnancy and gestational diabetes) and did go to the gym when I could during early pregnancy and when Covid allowed. Here are my resolutions for this year: 

2022 resolutions:
  1. Eat healthier and drink more water
  2. Get more exercise
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
I did! As well as one of my cousins. 

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Thankfully no, have had enough passings the last couple of years. 

5. What places/countries did you visit? 
Due to the pandemic we didn’t venture to far. We did manage a couple trips up island to Powell River and spent a couple days camping (before baby decided to show up and crash the party 2 months early) and a few days at the in-laws cabin. We celebrated our 11th anniversary this year. 

6. What would you like to have in 2022 that you lacked in 2021?
The ability to travel again and see family! No more covid-19.

7. What dates from 2021 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
12 Jan 2021- found out I was pregnant
1 April 2021 - started my new job
10 July 2021 - 11th Wedding Anniversary
24 July 2021 - our daughter was born
11 October 2021 - 3 year anniversary of my moms passing
25 Dec 2021 - my daughters 1st Christmas 

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Had a baby and new job!

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not being able to travel and see family and not exercising as much as I hoped. 

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No, and no sickness pregnancy related either. 

11. What was the best thing you bought?
I guess I still need to do a post on our kitchen/living room upgrades. Best purchases were baby items for our nursery.

12. Where did most of your money go?
Adding shrubs to our backyard, adding gates to our backyard and preparing for our daughters arrival.

13. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The birth of our daughter.

14. What song will always remind you of 2021?
Oops by young gravy, hush little baby

15. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier
b) thinner or fatter? Thinner thanks to pumping!
c) richer or poorer? Richer and poorer

16. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Exercising and travelling, getting to enjoy more of the summer without living at the hospital for all of august. 

17. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Traveling to and from the NICU.

18. How did you spend Christmas?
Christmas was spent home with DH due to the covid restrictions. Was quiet but got to enjoy our daughters first Christmas which was super special. 

19. Did you fall in love in 2021?
I continued to be in love in 2021 and fell in love with my daughter.

20. What was your favorite TV program?
Grey's Anatomy, Survivor, Bachelorette, married at first site, 90 day fiancĂ©. 

21. What was the best book you read?
I read a few good books

22. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Not really a discovery but rediscovering the classics.

23. What did you want and get?
A promotion at work and having a baby! Lots of visits with friends and family 

24. What did you want and not get?
A trip to Mexico.

25. What was your favorite film of this year?
I’d have to say cruella 

26. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 35! Was a low key birthday thanks to covid and being pregnant. 

27. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably better? being able to see and visit family and being able to travel more

28. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2021?
Very casual since most of my year was spent working from home and in maternity clothes.

29. What kept you sane?
My Hubs, my family and friends, my daughter.

30. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
No one

31. What political issue stirred you the most?
Covid 19 vaccine and mandates

32. Who did you miss?
My family and best friend who live across the country, my mom and grandmother. Super happy I got a surprise visit from my best friend who hasn’t been here since we got married 11 years ago. We did get to see lots of family and introduce them to our daughter.

33. Who was the best new person you met?
I’m being bias and saying my daughter.

34. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2021:
You don’t always end up with the life you envisioned and you need to learn how to move on. Nothing is promised in life - covid caught the world off guard and changed/affected lives in ways we never experienced or lived through before. Life is short, love it how you want to
